The short version

Our first impression

Internet find: transparent dog umbrellas are sold mainly for smaller breeds and gentle weather. Reviews are mixed on maneuverability, wind and dogs who refuse to walk in a portable dome. We have not tested it. A clear upside-down umbrella attached to a leash, designed to hover above a small dog who has rejected both weather and ordinary dignity. We have not put this through a Pickles-and-Bear test yet; this is an editorial preview, not a hands-on verdict.

Best for

Small rain-averse dogs, quick potty trips and anyone pursuing maximum sidewalk attention.

The evidence

Good dog. Questionable purchase.

This one is waiting for a real-dog test. The scorecard reflects our editorial first impression of the design, use case and entertainment potential.

The good

  • The dog remains visible
  • No tiny raincoat negotiations
  • Instant conversation with every passerby

The nonsense

  • Wind may turn the walk into aviation
  • Awkward around shrubs and other dogs
  • Many dogs will file a formal objection
