Unpaid Trail InternThe Kurgo Baxter Dog Backpack
“His résumé says excellent at carrying a stick.”
Promoted to assistant snack manager.
The short version
Our first impression
Internet find — not personally tested. This pack is worn by the dog. Measure against Kurgo’s chart, start empty, keep any load light and balanced, and check for rubbing. It is luggage, not a weight-training program or a lifting sling. Two saddlebags let your hiking companion carry a few of his own supplies. Management still handles the route, the budget, and every single poop. We have not put this through a Pickles-and-Bear test yet; this is an editorial preview, not a hands-on verdict.
Best for
Healthy adult trail dogs who tolerate fitted gear and would enjoy a very small promotion.
The evidence
Good dog. Questionable purchase.
This one is waiting for a real-dog test. The scorecard reflects our editorial first impression of the design, use case and entertainment potential.
The good
- Two panniers keep small essentials together
- Multiple fit adjustments
- Reflective trim and top handle
The nonsense
- Fit and load need attention
- Not sized for every dog
- Another item to wash after mud
