The short version

What happened when we tried it

The Labrador clocked in and temporarily forgot we existed. A textured silicone mat that turns a thin smear of dog-safe food into a surprisingly long and peaceful appointment. This is not essential equipment, and we refuse to pretend otherwise. But as dog purchases go, it produced a useful mix of entertainment, curiosity and genuine canine interest.

Best for

Baths, grooming, rainy days and buying fifteen minutes of concentrated quiet.

The evidence

Good dog. Questionable purchase.

We judge products on what they do in a normal home—not what the box promises in a studio. That means watching setup time, cleanup, durability, the dog's first reaction and whether anyone still wants the thing around a week later.

The good

  • Affordable enrichment
  • Freezer and dishwasher friendly options
  • Useful during grooming

The nonsense

  • Not a chew toy
  • Needs washing after use
  • Food choice affects calories
